I’ve made two other posts about this company, Communications Direct, and have received emails that they also use other numbers to dial people. Unfortunately the company uses a generic Cardiff telephone code, so ignoring all 0292 numbers might cause people to miss a genuine call.

Getting a MAC code from Orange Broadband
Being the family technophile, I get called on whenever a new gadget arrives or when something technical needs sorting out. So when my mother-in-law wanted to change her telephone/broadband supplier, it’s muggins here that has to call Orange and arrange it!

Who advises Gordon Brown?
The latest initiative from Gordon and his advisers is to force the energy industry to offer free loft and wall cavity to nearly eleven million households, with a grant that covers up to 50% of the installation for others who apply. This is supposedly to stave off fuel poverty!

Can we trust the news?
Newspapers, TV stations have all been hammering on about the Large Hadron Collider and how people were terrified that the world was about to end, today. Oddly it didn’t, maybe because all today involved was actually switching it on. The first collisions are due to be conducted next month, but of course that doesn’t stop the newspapers and sites blowing it all out of proportion.

Robert Jordan died last year!
I don’t know how I missed this, but it didn’t seem to make the mainstream news over here in the UK!
I googled Robert Jordan today, to see if there was any news on the next episode of his epic Wheel of Time series, only to find that his blog says that he died September 16th 2007. I really can’t believe I missed this, and am quite devastated that I won’t be reading any more of his books.

Formula 1 is now a joke – officially
What a stunning race today at Spa. Just as Hamilton was catching Raikkonen, the rain came down, and the track became a skating rink. We then have a situation in the wet, where Raikkonen is about to be overtaken by Hamilton, so Hamilton has to go wide or cause an accident. This means he cuts the chicane, gains an advantage by overtaking, gives the place back and then retakes later on.
