BLOODY EBAY!!!

I’m beginning to really hate eBay.

I hate the fact that they seem to be the only viable place to sell your old kit.
I hate the fact that they are so biased towards buyers, when it’s sellers that keep eBay afloat.
I hate their stupid feedback system that means I can’t leave negative feedback against crap buyers who waste my time.
I hate that they demand you offer PayPal on every auction.

I offered a few items for sale nearly a week ago, most sold, and most were paid for. However the highest value item has been sat waiting for payment. I’ve contacted the buyer twice asking if there’s a problem, no response, yet he’s replying to feedback on his own sales/purchases. I can issue a non-paying bidder alert against him seven days after the original sale, at which point I no longer want to sell to him, as in my opinion he has demonstrated that he can’t be trusted, so I don’t want to continue the transaction with him. I’d rather get my fees back, and either relist or offer to the under-bidder, neither of which are an option it seems unless the buyer agrees to withdraw from the original deal.

I can’t think of one thing I actually like about eBay anymore. If there was a really viable alternative I’d be of like a shot.

The only one I can find is called eBid, does anyone have any experience with them?

I’ve never sold anything on eBay because it sounds so much hassle. I’ve bought stuff and it’s always been fine, but the whole idea is kind of old now. What’s the point in bidding on an item for £5.99 if then YOU KNOW that it will go up to £35 or something…

I kind of feel that way myself now. I’ve always started my auctions at 99p simply to give the bidders the ‘excitement’ of bidding and possibly getting an item far too cheaply.

Now, all auctions seem to get minimal watchers, and all bidding takes place in the last 24 hours. Why bother with a week long auction?

And of course, once they pay (or if they pay) you nervously wait for positive feedback as PayPal will refund without question if the buyer complains for any reason.

    Bloody eBay!!!!

    Craig,
I tried eBid, and others, many years ago, they’re all a waste of time I’m sorry to say.
It’s a catch 22, not enough buyers because there is not enough choice, not enough choice because there’s not enough buyers.

Thinking back about 10 years the only online auctions that were any good, bar eBay, were Amazon, even Yahoo with all that traffic was poor.
    Cheers
