Whatever happened to radio?

I was chatting to a friend today, and we were discussing a recent piece of fiction released by the IFPI, which estimated that 95% of all downloaded music is illegal. Of course this is a statistic pulled from thin air, as are most statistics, but we both wondered why WE didn’t buy more new music (and for the record neither of us are heavy music downloaders).
