Buying a Netbook – Lenovo Ideapad S9e
I’d been toying with buying a mini-laptop (known as netbooks) for some time, as I’d find it useful for work, so when Tescos.com advertised the Lenovo Ideapad S9e for £199, I decided that it was too good to miss, even if it left me a little skint for a while!
Ordering it was easy, paying for it a different matter. For some reason my bank decided I was in Ireland and so refused the card payments. Quick phone call to my bank, and that was sorted out. Tescos telephoned me to inform me why they had cancelled my order, and after assuring me that I wouldn’t end up being double charged, I re-ordered the netbook.
It arrived on Tuesday, and I set about playing with it.
The specification of the Lenovo Ideapad S9e is
8/9″ screen at 1024 x 600
Intel Atom N270 1.6Ghz processor
1Gb DDR ram (max 1.5Gb)
80Gb SATA Hard Disk
Bluetooth/Wireless
Windows XP
this is the specification according to the Tesco website, and also everywhere else I could find information about the Lenovo Ideapad S9e (to be honest the information is quite lacking, even at the Lenovo site).
My Ideapad S9e however, has a 160Gb hard disk!
Initial thoughts
It looks very good until you handle it, and then finger prints etc mar the surface, making it look rather grubby. Quite light, keyboard seems small, as does the touchpad but I’ll probably get used to it.
