First thing to do is to visit http://www.wordpress.org and download the latest version of WordPress. Don’t download it from anywhere else but wordpress.org, as you could end up with a compromised version of WordPress.

This website is hosted by a company called 1and1, which is one of the biggest in the world. I signed up to them simply because they offered the features that I needed, at a decent price, with a special offer of one years free hosting, if I signed up for two. Prior to that I was with a company called Heart Internet.

Website building and updating used to be a bit of a technical exercise, but nowadays with the wealth of Content Management Systems, and webhosts who will configure it all for you, there’s very little reason to pay someone else to build or maintain a basic website, except for a lack of time.

I like eBooks, and I have a Kindle. I also have a few old books like I’d like to scan and convert into ebooks, maybe give them away or even sell them. Amazon is very good at ebook publishing, even from independents, but because of the format that the Kindle uses (either mobi or azw) creation of ebooks can be quite laborious, especially when you don’t use software like Microsoft Word.
